My Cross To Bear

You took your cross and walked the path
To save me from eternal wrath,
And on the same cross You had borne
Your blood was spilled, your body torn.
That day, You gave your life away,
The price for all my sin to pay.

And now, today, You ask me to
Take up my cross and follow You.
As on the cross your flesh would die,
I must each day my flesh deny.
Each selfish want and wish impair,
This truly is my cross to bear.
