When I Asked God (Psalm 8)
© Brenda W. Quinn 1982
Oh Lord, how wonderful is your name!
You have set your glory above the sky.
When I think of the heavens, and the stars, and all you made,
When I think of your handiwork, what am I?
What am I, that you should know me?
Who am I, that you should see me?
Yet you have given me honor and glory.
You have put all things beneath my feet.
Refrain: When I asked God for faith, He sent his Spirit.
When I asked God for hope, He made life new.
When I asked God for life, He sent His only Son.
When I asked God for joy, He gave me you.
You have given me everything of your hands.
And made me a little lower than the angels.
You have given me the sky, and the sea, and land.
In all the earth, how wonderful is your name!
Refrain: When I asked God for faith, He sent his Spirit.
When I asked God for hope, He made life new.
When I asked God for life, He sent His only Son.
When I asked God for joy, He gave me you.
Oh Lord, how wonderful is your name!
