Walking down the road to Emmaus ‘bout seven miles away
Two disciples said how their hope was dashed on the cross that day
Jesus came and walked with those robbed of joy of salvation’s way
It caused their hearts to burn as he revealed the glory of that day

Like those two men we don’t always know the whole plan
It’s for our good and his glory, that’s a safe place to stand
The darkest days always break to reveal the greatest mercy and grace
The end far outweighs our pain when we see his glorious face

When you’re feeling down as you walk along life’s lonely way
Remember what Jesus did to lift the disciples up that day
Their hearts burned from the glory in what the scriptures had to say
Didn’t recognize him, truth revealed took it away
