| What
is the purpose of YourHymn.com |
| Our purpose of this is
website is simple. There are thousands and thousands of great Christian
worship songs written through the ages by the great musicians that we can
find in the hymnals, on CDs, or playing on the radio. But there are even
more great worship songs written by ordinary Christians that may never be
heard. We want to hear your songs! We hope that this site will become a
source for many original worship songs that will glorify God and edify
fellow believers. Many Christians have great musical gifts and talents
that are going unnoticed, but we hope this site will help send out the
great testimonies for Christ all over the world. |
| What
types of songs are you accepting? |
We are accepting the
following four Christian genres:
Traditional Hymn: We define a
Traditional Hymn as a song that addresses God directly or indirectly, in
the classic verse-chorus-verse format, generally rhymes every other line,
and can include music & chords.
Contemporary Christian Song: We
define a Contemporary Christian song as a more modern song that addresses
God in a more casual and/or emotional way. The music is generally more
upbeat than that of hymns.
Praise & Worship Chorus: We define a Praise and Worship chorus as a
short worship song, often containing only four to eight lines that are
repeated.
Christian Poem: We define a Christian Poem as any Christian writing
that does not contain any musical elements to the song. |
| How
many songs can I submit? |
| Currently we are only
accepting one entry per person in each of our categories and contests. |
| Do I
have to register a copyright for my song before I submit it to the site? |
| No, you do not have to
acquire an official copyright for your song to submit it to us.
Songwriters are granted copyright protection automatically when they
produce a work. You can simply supply the year you wrote the song and that
will be sufficient copyright information for our site. |
| How
can I copyright my song? |
|
When you write a song, you
are automatically granted the copyright for that piece of work. However,
you can register your work with the library of congress for a fee. This
copyright issued by the government will be helpful for fighting
infringements upon your work if the situation arises. For example, if
someone else claims to be the author of your song, or if other people are
using your song without your permission. For steps on how to copyright
your song, please visit
