In the beginning
The Word was with God
All things created by him
Without him nothing was made
The Word became flesh
And dwelt among us
And the life
Was the light of men
Chorus
We beheld his glory
Full of grace and truth
We will tell his story
To set the captives loose
Like a city up on a hilltop
For all the world to see
That all men through us might believe
The light shone in the darkness
The darkness didn't comprehend it
He was in the world
But the world didn't recognize him
The Word became flesh
And dwelt among us
And the life
Was the light of men
Chorus (2x)
That all men though us might believe

From the Author:
I was sitting through a sermon a couple of months ago and the
preacher read a portion of John chapter 1. The Spirit moved in me and I began
writing the words to my song, "The Light of Men," based on this beautiful
scripture. Later that afternoon, it dawned on me that Jesus challenged us to
reflect his glorious light to the world in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew
5:14-16). We live in a dark and desperate times. As Christians, our living
example can make a real difference. We have been called to continue Christ's
mission to bind up the broken-hearted and set the captives loose from sin and
hopelessness. This is every Christian's calling and purpose!

YourHymn.com is the place on the internet to submit your original Christian
worship songs. We accept hymns, praise choruses, contemporary songs, and
even poems. We also want to hear your songs, so please send us the mp3 or
WMA files so we can share them with our visitors. Also, every month we have
a contest for our song-writers, complete with prizes. Our goal on this site
is to glorify God by these songs of worship, and to be a blessing to all our
visitors who stumble upon these works.
