I was walking down a dark and lonely street
When I stumbled on a homeless man
lying at my feet
He was scared and he was cold
His liquor bottle he kept hold
And as I looked into his eyes
I could see a soul in pain
That was trapped by mass confusion
Like a fire in the rain
I reached out for this weakened man
And helped him to his feet
And he listened as I told him

You've go to live your life for Jesus
He's the one who can truly please us
But you've got to get up on your feet and try
Right now Satan has control
If you'd let Jesus Christ take hold
You can live your life with the ultimate high
You've got to live your life for Jesus

I was walking thru a park one sunny morn
When i happened past this man and wife
Holding their newborn
They looked as happy as could be
He turned around and he saw me
And as i looked into his eyes
I could see a different man
Then the one I'd met years earlier
Who lived his life without a plan
He grabbed me and he hugged me tight
And told me as he wept
I listened when you told me

You've go to live your life for Jesus
He's the one who can truly please us
But you've got to get up on your feet and try
Right now Satan has control

We talked about that day
He said good-bye and he walked away
He passed a homeless man, upon the ground he lay
And tears came to my eyes when I heard him say

You've go to live your life for Jesus
