1. Early in the day, grieving women walking
To the rich man’s tomb where Jesus body lay
Out of love for Him brought spices for anointing
Foremost in their minds how to roll the stone away

But when they got there and saw the tomb open
They thought somebody had taken their Lord
They didn’t know yet though Jesus had told them
That on this third day new life was outpoured
And

Chorus
Resurrection joy lifts up the heavy-hearted
His resurrection glory is seen upon the earth
And resurrection hope is woven in the story
Of ev’ry believer in this blessed day

2. Later in the day, two friends sadly talking
On a country road when Jesus drew up near
Pointed to the Christ throughout the holy writings
Opened up their minds until ev’ry thing was clear

And when He broke bread then their eyes were opened
They knew the stranger was really their Lord
For as He spoke then their hearts burned within them
They knew for real that new life was outpoured
And

And resurrection hope is woven in the story
Of ev’ry believer in this blessed day

3. After some time passed, Peter at the lakeside
Said that it was time for fishing once again
But all through the night no matter how much they tried
Nothing in the nets ‘til a voice called “Try again”.

And when the nets filled their eyes were opened
They knew that Jesus had called from the shore
So with excitement they made for the dry land
To eat their breakfast with their risen Lord
And
